Internet Browsing Schedule
The Internet browsing schedule is used to limit all Internet browsing activity. Setting a browser schedule is the equivalent to creating a Program Schedule for all Internet browsers
The Internet browsing schedule includes three options:
No Schedule Limits
This option is selected by default and results in no schedule restrictions
Maximum Hours Per Day
This option maintains a running tally of the time any of the controlled Internet browsers are open. Once the allotted time has expired all browsers will be closed and the user will be unable to open them again
According to a Time Slot Schedule
This option is used to set specific times when Internet browsing is permitted. All periods highlighted in red are times when access will be prevented

This option also allows a maximum duration to be set. With this combination access can be restricted to a maximum duration per day while restricting what times of the day this allotment can be used
Common Problems
1. Setting a maximum duration without setting the permitted time slots
This occurs when the Allow Internet browsing according to the following schedule is selected and maximum durations are set, but there are no time slots set to permit access. As a result access will never be permitted
Notes
1. Copying schedules from another policy
The Copy Schedule From button is used to copy the browser schedule from another security policy, easing the task of creating several similar policies
2. The user will be warned before the browser schedule expires
The warning is first displayed 20 minutes before the schedule expires. Options to view the schedule and to override the schedule using the Administrator's password are provided at this time
3. Browsers will not automatically close when the schedule expires if the computer is unattended
PC Chaperone is designed to prevent programs from automatically closing if their schedule expires while the computer is unattended in order to prevent the accidental loss of unsaved work. As soon as the user types or moves the mouse the program shutdown process will begin, giving the user a short grace period to save any unsaved work
4. The browser schedule can be extended using the Administrators Password
The schedule extension is in the form of selecting a date/time to extend the schedule until. After this period has expired, or the user logs off and back on, the normal schedule restrictions will be enforced. As a result there is no need to reset the override once the desired period has expired
5. Unused time allotments are not rolled over to subsequent days
Tips and Hints
1. Different maximum durations can be set for each day of the week by selecting the "Allow Internet browsing according to the following schedule" option, even if there is no need to limit the schedule to specific time slots. In this case all time slots are permitted
